Raptor Release

Age Everyone
Join us to witness the great fall raptor migration. We'll have two rehabilitated raptors to release this year!

Each fall thousands of raptors pass through New Hampshire while migrating from their breeding areas in northern New England and Canada to their wintering areas in South and Central America. Up to 15 species and as many as 10,000 individuals are counted passing over Pack Monadnock observatory each fall.

Join us again this year at Pack Monadnock in Miller State Park, Peterborough and at Carter Hill Orchard in Concord to witness the great migration. This year, with the help of wildlife rehabilitator Maria Colby of Wings of Dawn, we will have a rehabilitated Broad-winged Hawk to release at Pack Monadnock on Saturday, September 19 (weather and raptors permitting), and a rehabilitated Red-tailed Hawk to release at Carter Hill Orchard on Sunday, September 20. Both releases are scheduled to take place at 1 pm; visitors are encouraged to arrive early to accommodate traffic and parking.
For more information, contact Tricia at 224-9909, ext. 307 or email pcasey@nhaudubon.org.

Miller State Park is just off Route 101, east of Peterborough. Drive or hike to the top of Pack Monadnock Mountain and follow the signs to the observatory. Carter Hill Orchard is a few miles from I-93, exit 15W at Carter Hill Road. There is no admission fee at Carter Hill Orchards; at Miller State Park, park admission fees apply: $4 for adults, $2 for children ages 6-11; children 5 and under and NH residents age 65 and older are admitted free. Park gates are open during daylight hours.
